Based on an article written by Ernesto, the movie industry has taken some actions to prevent the leaking of the pirated movie to the public. Some movie theaters use high technology equipments to stop the illegal copying in the theaters. For examples, like the night vision goggles and metal detectors have helped a lot on preventing the movie being copy. Even some of them are able to record the movies the quality of the pirated movie is very bad. Another effort of stopping the movie piracy is the watermarking techniques which have been used by many studios. This technique can track down the origin of the movies. The theaters can recognize the place of the video recorded and get to know the source of the distribution.
From a research done by the Motion Picture Association of America (MPAA) in year 2004, the global movie piracy has been growing rapidly. Due to this issue, MPAA has organized a campaign to fight against the online piracy. They have planned to advertise online piracy fight on the newspaper and magazine to decrease the number of people in downloading the pirated movie from the internet.
For my opinion, the usage of high technology devices can somehow manage to reduce the movie piracy as people recently demand for high quality of movie even though is pirated movie. Although the expenses for the device use by the movie industry are quite high, they are willing to spend the money for them. However, preventing the online piracy through the campaigns and advertisements is not an effective way. Most of the people will ignored this kind of campaign and advertisements or cannot bring out long term effect in this issue.

In the article “MPAA: Movie Piracy is the New Plague” (Scarlet Pruitt, 2004), Scarlet has stated some reasons of pirated movie spreading among the public. Nowadays, people can easily get the pirated movie from different sources like internet, VCD and DVD. Especially through internet, they just need to click a few buttons to download the movie without paying for it. It is fast which suits the lifestyle of people at present.
Besides that, people no need to spend money for downloading the movie as they are free of charge. Why people wants to buy an original VCD or DVD when there are ways of watching the movies free. Even buying the pirated VCD or DVD, they are very cheap when compared to the prices of the movie tickets. They can watch the pirated VCD or DVD a hundred time but they can only watch once when using a movie ticket.
Moreover, they are many choices for the people to choose in the internet. Some movies which are difficult to buy the original VCD or DVD, there is great opportunity that internet provided this movie. From the black and white types of movies to the latest movies, people can download from the internet easily. People get to view the new movie in the internet even though the theaters have not release the movie in some countries.
From my point of view, these reasons are very accurate as these issues are happening around the public. All people like free gifts especially when the free gifts are what they want. Everything wants to be fast is another humanity of the people nowadays. These are the reasons why movie piracy cannot be eliminated from the public.

Methodology
A group of MMU students randomly selected from different years and faculty, comprising of 50 students are requested to provide their opinion on identifying the factors that lead to the continuity existence of pirated movies in Malaysia. Within the group there were 50 students from four different academic departments –engineering, creative multimedia, IT and management. The subjects were selected from different academic years and faculty of the Multimedia University, Cyberjaya campus in the year 2010.
The selection that was made consists of male and female regardless of race, religion and culture and the age was within the range of having the ability to decide on their own expenditure. This criterion was employed to ensure competent understanding of the issue and to obtain more accurate information that is best in explaining the issue.
The test instrument employed in this study was a few articles related to the issue of pirated movies in Malaysia and reviews written out by our group members. Questions in the questionnaire will be written out based on the references taken online newspaper relating to the subject or articles that have been search from the internet. It usually consists of official calculations report findings made by government body or any other professional association regarding the issue.
Every person from the group was given a questionnaire which consists of 20 questions related to pirated movies industry in Malaysia. The questionnaire will be distributed to 50 persons in the way of printed question form or through email which the results will be send back to the report group members. 1 or 2 person will be in charge as an examiner to examine and collect the data and information obtained from the questionnaire session that lasted for about 3 days. The examiner will explained to every student about the main purpose and the target of the report and that their answer for each question will be collect and calculate to show the percentage of the majority opinion on the issue. All sessions were saved in the computer and later printed out for easy data analyze and presentation.

I did mention about possible topic for our article. So here it goes…

You just got out of the shower and reached for your favorite deodorant. You like it because it smells nice and it keeps your underarms dry and odor free. You've used it for a long time. But did you ever read the ingredients on the label and wonder about the safety of the almost unpronounceable chemicals listed in the tiny printed label to read?

If not, you're like most people. You don't expect to find products on store shelves that contain harmful ingredients. But beware. The ingredients in many deodorant products could endanger your health.

Certainly, you've heard in the news recently about the possible association with deodorants and breast cancer. Maybe you've even heard about the possibility that aluminum in deodorants may contribute to Alzheimer's disease. And you may or may not know about ingredients which act like estrogen and can upset your hormonal balance.

Perhaps you've heard all these things and just shrugged them off. After all how could companies sell these products if they're not safe? The manufacturers certainly must test the ingredients and the products before they put them on the market, right? Well, not exactly! The law does not require manufacturers to test their products for safety. In fact, except for colors and a few banned ingredients, manufacturers can use any raw material they want as an ingredient in your deodorant. Most of the ingredients used in deodorant and other personal care products have not been fully tested. Many have never been tested at all.

The industry, in an attempt to make it look like it's acting in the interest of consumer safety, formed the Cosmetic Ingredient Review in 1976 to evaluate the safety of ingredients used in cosmetics and personal care products. However, in the 29 years up to June 2005, they performed safety assessments on only about 10% of the ingredients allowed in cosmetic and personal care products, including deodorants, and never evaluated one third of the 50 most commonly used ingredients.

But, you might add, the FDA wouldn't allow companies to sell unsafe products to the public, right? Well, in theory! While the FDA urges manufacturers to conduct the tests necessary to substantiate the safety of their products, the law does not require manufacturers to test their products for safety. The FDA doesn't approve deodorants and antiperspirants or any other cosmetic or skin care products before they reach the marketplace. The FDA can only have a product removed from the market if they can prove it harmful in a court of law.

So, what does this mean for you? Does it mean you should stop using deodorant? What can you do to protect yourself? Well, you have several options. You can discover the secret to reading ingredient labels and ascertaining ingredient safety, making yourself a master of choosing products without harmful ingredients. You can ask someone who knows to recommend a safe deodorant or antiperspirant. Or you can get adventuresome and learn how to make your own.

Now, it really isn't necessary to go to the time and trouble of making your own, unless of course you want to. You can find healthy deodorant products in stores or online if you know how to read labels and determine ingredient safety. Once an almost impossible task for the average person, but no more. Now you can easily master the art of label reading and interpretation with the book, Dying To Look Good. It gives you the keys to deciphering the safety of the ingredients on the label of your deodorant and other personal care products as well as providing names of healthy products and where you can buy them.

So, to all Malaysian consumers read, understand and choose wisely before you buy!

Premarital sex or also known as fornication in older term refers to individuals of different gender performing sexual intercourse before their marriage. This issue have been discussed and debated among the communities since a long time ago.

The issue that is being debated among the society in older days regarding premarital sex is mainly about the the importance of maintaing the virginity of the female for their future husbands. I personally thinks that is merely a statement which praise for male chauvinism. I think they should be questioning whether the male is still a virgin or not and not only focusing on the women.

In my opinion, I personally do not think that premarital sex is a crime or something immorality, but I also do not praise for promiscuity. The only thing that should be taken care of regarding this issue is not about faith, religions and something like that because I think that discussing the issue of religion in this 21st century is not a wise thing to do since people in this century is smart enough to twist the teachings of God or use the name of God for their own wild desires. A few things I think do matter in this issue is the willingness between both parties, safety measures taken and knowing the consequences of any accidents happened for their own decision including premarital pregnancy, venereal disease and other issue.

The society should focused on educating the young generation from psychological and mental aspect. The society should instill positive thinking to the youngsters about the issue of respecting their partners, how to protect themselves in terms of thinking and physically. Listening to the view and opinion of the younger ones and correcting their thinking before it is too late. I think that merely restraining the young generation using pure force and law restriction will only caused them to rebel in a stronger way. Thus, even if they are hurt by their own decision, many of them didn't manage to recover or understand the right thinking because they have no one to teach them how to dealt with this issue. What they understand is just mere opposition from the society but they don't know why.

INTRODUCTION & PROBLEMS
Pirated movies either hard copy (VCD, DVD, Blu-Ray, etc) or soft copy (torrent, download archive) was no longer in control.
People kept choosing pirated movies because they are cheap and easy to obtain from the black market which openly sold those pirated copy movies at the street even in the famous shopping mall at every major city in the world!
Authority and film maker have spent billions of dollars to overcome piracy but it never comes to end as expected.
Most of film maker today depends on ticket and merchandise sale to gaining profits. In the same time they also lost a lot of money then what they had got in profiting because of movies piracy.
Piracy of movie products has both a positive impact and a negative impact on the legitimate sales of the movie product. On the one hand, movie piracy decreases the legitimate sales because the pirated movie user may not watch a theatrical movie; on the other hand, however, piracy increases the legitimate sales of the movie product through the impact of network externalities and the diffusion of information.
If the positive and negative impacts of piracy on the sales of movie products coexist at the same time, the overall impact of piracy on sales will depend on which impact is superior.
This paper tries to estimate the impact of movie piracy on the theatrical movie industry. In order to do this, a mathematical model was developed by modifying Hui and Png’s model for music piracy and, then, the overall impact of movie piracy on the theatrical movie industry estimate utilizing data on movie sales, admission price, video penetration, piracy rate of movies, and Internet penetration of 25 countries for 5 years through a two-stage least square model analysis.
Each positive impact and negative impact of movie piracy on the theatrical movie industry is not estimated, however overall piracy impact resulting from the substitution between the negative and the positive impact of piracy is estimated.
The results show that the overall impact of piracy is slightly positive. This implies the counterintuitive conclusion that theatrical movie sales have at least slight benefits from movie piracy.
The impact of pirated movies are terrible and even the MPAA (Motion Picture Association of America) was force to lied about the actual pirated movies statistic.
Even the MPAA themselves upload the fake movie at some cyber piracy portal on the world wide web to avoid the actual movie from being illegally copied and released for viewing without any profits gained and authorization. Indeed.

Pirated movie VCD had become a serious issue among the local and international production of videos and audios. It caused many disadvantages in nation development, economy and moral problems.

Effects:

The producer or creator of a movie will lose more money for each pirated is bought. The creators have done many ways to make people easier buy their products. The creators from other country sell their products through internet with cheaper price than the price which people buy in store. The artists cannot do anything else except keep creating other products. People should stop pirating the creator’s products because the creator did not get a cent from our purchase. People mostly lazy to buy the original DVDs or CDs, because the price is more expensive than the pirated and the stores are too far.

Pirated things can be the problem that could break the spirit of new comer musicians. If the new comer musician make good music but people do not intend to buy their original CDs, the musician will think that they do not get the people’s attention in music so they quit because they earn no money.

Those things will make our country’s economical condition go down because the people do not respect copyright of the artists’ product by buying the pirated products or download freely through internet. That condition will also make other producers and corporations lose a lot of money, so they cannot create another creation. Piracy really makes economic problem especially kill the artists’, producers’ and corporations’ creativity and spirit in creating, which is caused of no earning.

Another problem that is got from buying pirated things is lack of tax for our country. Tax is really important to develop our country. The value is so fantastic to be used for development. A lot of pirated CDs and DVDs cause government lose money from tax income, government lose Value – added tax, it is about 10% and Income tax it is about 15% from the DVDs, VCDs and CDs selling. That loss will make people by their selves lose many things, such as potency of jobs field. Jobs can make people get a better life for their selves and families and at the last will make strong Indonesia’s economy condition for every sectors. Buying piracy things will also lose affect the development of industry and technology. People also know that technology and science progress are affected from the fund and the fund source is from the government. So it means that tax give contribution also to the research for sciences and technologies. But, the fact is the government gets less tax because people prefer to buy pirated things than the original so the progress is slowing down. Industry could be obstructed by piracy problem that is caused by less tax to develop it. Many industries also need help from government to do their operations inside. So the progress of industries and technologies cannot be continued regularly without any tax from government. So government needs people’s contributions by buying original things in order to get more taxes.

There is another effect that is caused of the piracy. If the pirated products have been spread widely, the existence of the original products will decrease rapidly. That situation is also affected by the attitude of people who like to buy things with cheap price and also in a good quality. The decrement of original products existence will move fast while government’s effort to reduce pirated things is not worthy and people’s attitude become messier. It will cause many people become hard to get the original product because its position has been placed by the pirated products. Over the period people finally will be tired with the pirated products over their lives. They will ‘kill’ many producers, artists or corporations did for living. So the future is in this time people’s hand, what will this country is and when will this country grows. The answer will be good if people choose to use the original products to grow this land and nation.

The last disadvantage that people will get is moral problem. People cannot deny that doing piracy is against the law. The sellers firstly will get raid and after that they will get high fine form the government. Under the Copyright Act, The heaviest punishment that the sellers can get is jailed. People never think about the risks in selling the pirated DVDs, CDs or software. Buying and selling pirated activities will make the result. The results are a habitual, if people are used to buying and selling, people will forget how to appreciate each other. Appreciating each other is really important; especially appreciate somebody’s efforts or works. Appreciating somebody’s works could be in a form praising or criticizing, appreciating artists’ or producers’ works is in form of buying their original products. The fact is now people do not respect each other creation, people should be shame of that attitude. Attitude will grow to be a character. The fact is that nation’s characters are the reflection of the people’s behavior. Nobody wants to get bad recognition personally and even get characterized by other nations. The solution for this problem can come from to side, from the government work with producers and the people. The best approach for pirated things is top – down approach. The governments with the artists give the best price for the people. Government should response well the pirated things selling fast by giving high fine to make the sellers be wary. If the government makes a strict policy about piracy, so the people should support. People should stop buying piracy things to appreciate the creators and buy the original. People should not share their products through internet because it against the intellectual property rights. The best solution is that people should remind each other to stop buy the pirated things because people need full awareness about this problem.

General Ethics

In Malaysia, consumers always have the mind of thought that the effects of purchasing piracy things is not too tremendous and there is no punishment if they continue purchase on pirated movie VCD. Education which provided on the effectiveness and disadvantages on purchasing pirated movie VCD has to be improved by government. Pirated copies of movies is always been listed as cheap in consumers perception. To improvise this problem, the original copies have to fight against the pirated copies by decreasing the price to encourage the consumers to buy original.

We often see pirated CDs are selling at the night market or anywhere. Buying pirated movie VCD is an example of unethical activities in copyright ethic.

A guideline is needed to stop the current film industries from being exploited by replicating the originals movie VCD and selling them as pirated copies, this unethical behavior can be controlled by the code of conducts.

Under the Malaysia Copyright Act 1987, any individual charge with piracy will ne fine up to 10000 for each copy or up to 5 years imprisonment or both ( by PSA- public services announcements)

Introduction
This report is constructed on 23 February of 2010 by a group of students from Creative Communication group MC101. The report concerns of pirated movies industry in Malaysia. The main aim of this report is to carry out a research to identify the factors that lead to the continuity existence of pirated movies in Malaysia.
In the report, the findings describe about the current state of pirated movies such as the main requirements in the market and the problems it has caused to our country from different aspects. Following these findings, research will be carried out to identify the factors that support the continuity of pirated movies industry in Malaysia and to collect the public recommendations of possible solutions towards this issue.
Findings will be obtained through a few methods which include internet sources, encyclopedia and interview. Internet sources such as articles and news relating to the subject will be used as references to assist the writing of the findings as well as numerical data and graphical data from encyclopedia websites. Interview is carried out through questionary paper in which questions regarding pirated movies industry are written. A number of 50 students from different faculty and level of education are randomly selected from the University of Multimedia to fill the questionaire.

This is my draft for part of the review. The draft below is about the effects caused by the existence of pirated movie in the market.

Effect Of The Existence of Pirated Movie

The movie piracy is growing in some countries though it has disadvantages to the economy in a whole.

On the movie creation, producers are expecting a good earning for the movie they produce according to the amount of money they'd spent in creating it, however the selling of pirated movie reduced the amount of money they get. In the long term it means the reduced budget for newer movie which often means a lower quality movie, worse animations, and all to reduce the budget due the past movie didn't gain much in return, in short it's destroying the movie industry slowly.

This impact may be even worse in the case of newcomers, as they begin their debut they were basically on the low financial and due they're new they will probably have to sell their movie cheaper and so the piracy will reduce it even more. This fact may discourage them to make more movies thus killing their spirit of creation. This is very disappointing cause they may have talents and be able to make a high quality movie in many aspects like stories, animations, etc.

The "good" aspects pirated movie has is that it gives easier access to get a hard-to-get movie like old movies for example and people can watch their favourite movies anytime they want.

In the case of developing countries where the majority of the population aren't wealthy, the pirated movie provide them with cost effective movies and be able to save money due reason that it's cheaper.

And at the opposite of the dying movie industry, the movie piracy provides employment to people in the developing countries. Though with the dying movie industry itself, the movie piracy industry will eventually go down along with it cause they basically can't create movie themselves.

The Reason Why The Public Prefer Pirated Movie VCD Compared To Original Movie VCD

Nowadays, existences of the pirated video compact disc (VCD) in the market are not anything new to the public. Their traces can be easily found beside the crowded streets, within the night markets, and inside a small, narrow shop in the corner of the street. For examples, at Kuala Lumpur’s Petaling Street, the pirated VCD sellers are doing their trades by promote the pirated VCD to the people passed by. On the other side, the news reported about the arrest of the offenders who produce and sell pirated VCD are often exist on the newspaper. It seems to be the government is taking action on this piracy issue. However, the traces of the pirated VCD are still available in the market. The public still can easily get a copy of the pirated VCD of a newly release movie down the streets and within the night markets.

So, why the pirated VCD still exist in the market? The existence of pirated VCD in the market is because from the vision of the public, there are a lot of attractive points for them to purchase a pirated movie VCD rather than buying an original released movie VCD. The most attractive points and also the main reason for the public to purchase a pirated movie VCD is its cheap and attractive price. To get a pirated movie VCD, only a few ringgits is needed. However, to own a newly released original movie VCD, four to five times of the pirated movie VCD price is needed. Sometimes, the price of the pirated movie VCD is almost equal to the price of a movie ticket. So, it is not surprise for the public to purchase a pirated movie VCD rather than purchase an original VCD.

Besides, the availability of the pirated movie VCD is also contributes to the existence of the pirated VCD. The public can easily get a pirated movie VCD along the street and within the night market. In some small town, the pirated VCD stall is the only sources for the residents to get a movie VCD due to the absence of a shop which sell original VCD. The pirated VCD is like a wave which floods over the market. Due to its high availability and attractive price, almost nine out of the ten of the public own a pirated movie VCD.

For some big productions which grab the attendance of the public, the pirated version always released as soon as the movie released in the cinema of a particular area. Sometimes, the pirated version movie VCD even exists in the market before the movie released in the cinema within a particular region. For part of the public, queue up in front of the counter of the cinema for a newly released hot movie ticket is a troublesome yet irritating act. So they would prefer to buy a pirated version movie VCD and watch it at home inside their comfortable sofa.

In a conclusion, even though the public felt guilty in selling or owning any pirated VCD, but part of them still prefer pirated VCD compared to original released VCD as pirated VCD meet the ideal condition of the public as an entertainment in their daily life, which is affordable , high availability and released in trend. In the other hand, pirated movie VCD just exists around the public wherever and whenever the public want to have it.

Impact of cinema

Cinemas are meant for entertainment. However, they create huge impact on the society, and especially the youths are influenced by it. Youngsters tend to imitate the actions / behaviours and the lifestyles of the heroes and heroines in the movie without considering what the risk is. The type of movie one watches affects their personality and way of thinking. Good movie sets a good example and motivate youths to use their energy in a right way. On the other hand, if a movie contains content such as violence, it can slowly push the youth to the negative direction.

But it all depends upon how the viewers grab things or understand it. =)
